MF Global Singapore Pte Limited (MFGS) offers CFDs (Contracts For Difference) on companies listed in the stock markets of Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea as well as UK, Europe and the US.

CFDs are OTC equity derivatives that allow investors to gain exposure to share price movements, without the need for ownership of the underlying shares. CFDs allow investors to take long or short positions, where the investor provides a cash deposit (known as margin) as collateral rather than the payment of the full value of the underlying position. Unlike other equity derivatives; CFDs do not have an expiry date, so as long as the investor’s account can support any variation margin and interest incurred, a CFD position can be held indefinitely.

Whilst there are no official figures, it is estimated that CFDs account for up to 40% of the daily turnover on the London Stock Exchange, where the product has been offered since 1998.
